Sydney is renowned for its gorgeous beaches, snowy sand, and clear water. Swim, sunbathe, or simply build sand castles while enjoying Sydney’s numerous water sports. Sydney itself boasts more than 90 beaches. Even though it is challenging, I have chosen some of Best Beaches of Sydney.
Bondi Beach
Bondi is one of the most iconic beaches in Australia and is famous because of its pristine white sand. Thousands of tourists flock to Bondi in December during Australian summer just to enjoy the beach. The water tends to be really clear, making it a great place to show off your surfing skills! It’s better to arrive early, have a splash in the sea, and unwind in order to avoid the crowds. If you’re hungry, take a break at any one of the many cafes along Main Road or Esplanade. From there, you can watch beautiful sunsets as they dissolve over Bondi Beach.
Manly Beach
Manly Beach is an iconic beach, which offers more than just the typical beach experience. With its wide range of various attractions, this beach offers something for every age and interest.
Manly Beach, Sydney’s most popular spot for seaside strolls, is a two kilometer (1.2 mile) stretch of golden sand flanked by evergreen pines and pretty tropical foliage. It is the first of many Northern Beaches that stretch north to Palm Beach.
The iconic Manly Ferry can get you from Circular Quay to Manly Wharf in half an hour and has fantastic views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney Opera House and city skyline. This is a lot of fun.
There’s always something interesting happening at Manly beach. Numerous eateries, shops, and other attractions may be reached by foot in Manly.
Enjoy a boat journey, surf instruction, family time and other activities that you can do around Manly.
Palm Beach
Palm Beach is a beautiful and very serene beach that has a perfect view for everyone. The northern side of the beach is more rough for those who love to surf, whereas the southern side is calmer and more suited for swimming and picnics. Palm Beach is quite far from Sydney CBD, so it’s not crowded at all. The site also hosts Barrenjoey Lighthouse, which offers a fantastic panorama.
Coogee Beach
Swimming is usually a safe activity, as long as you stay between the flags. Coogee Beach is preferred by many because of its well-maintained facilities and great view of the beach. It also has an ideal picnic spot nearby. You can easily reach by public transport, and if you have time, there’s a scenic trail nearby that leads to Bondi Beach.
Shelly Beach
You can find exotic marine life at Shelly Beach. This is a great place to go snorkelling, scuba diving, and to take underwater photographs because the water is clear. You’ll see Cuttlefish, blue gropers, bottom-dwelling sharks, yellowfin breams and even sea dragons near the beach. It’s easy to spot the Blue Groper fish from rocks in the water. There are picnic benches, drinking fountains and showers in this area as well as many restaurants and cafes on the beach.
Bronte Beach
If you love to surf and are looking for a perfect beach for surfing, I have good news for you! Bronte beach offers great surf conditions and has its waves so rough that it’s fantastic for experienced surfers. Bronte Beach also offers natural rock pools which offer the opportunity to swim in the ocean without fear of rough waves.
Balmoral Beach
Balmoral Beach has a tranquil atmosphere with a family-friendly vibe. The blue-green water and calm waves are safe to swim in, and the beach also features other amenities, such as scuba diving and kayaking. You can grab a meal or drink at the nearby restaurants and café to catch some picturesque views.
